Missing you Kathy!

missing-you-kathy

Today is the 1 year anniversary that Kathy ‘Spice’ Benton passed away. I have been sitting here trying to think of the words to say but I’m coming up with nothing.  You are sorely missed.

  • negotiated-infidelity-cnns-secret-to-a-healthy-marriage

I seen this article from CNN on my sisters Facebook page and had to laugh on some of the theories this ‘Sugarbabe’ had to say.

“It’s better to walk the dog on a leash than let it escape through an unseen hole in the back fence.”

I laughed and then laughed again.  Maybe we should wear dog shock collars?

    She went on to say:

“I think that cheating men are normal,” says Hill. “Monogamous men are heroes. Monogamy does have a place in relationships, but not on the long-term. Men are hard-wired to betray women on the long-term.”

Normal??  So if a guy isn’t getting the good lovin’ at home he can say “Hey, it’s OK for me to wander cause we’re ‘hard-wired’ to betray women.”  as an excuse?  If it’s that much of an issue, talk to your wife or get a divorce and never marry again.

At the time, Hill says she saw a distinct difference between what she was doing and prostitution.

“I thought that because I was a 24/7 exclusive mistress that I wasn’t part of the world’s oldest profession, but with hindsight I was, because what I was doing … I was charging men for services, part of which included sex,” says Hill.

However, she adds, any married woman who no longer loves her husband but continues to have sex with him to retain the comforts of being married could also be considered part of that oldest profession.

Most of Hill’s “daddies” were wealthy married men who surprisingly often opted for conversation, she says. While entertaining with red wine and exotic food platters she’d prepare in her Sydney apartment, Hill learned that most of these men sought her attention because they simply weren’t getting enough sex from their wives.

“Men need to get their rocks off,” says Hill. “If a woman crosses her legs for any length of time and doesn’t arrange some sort of alternative for her man, he is going to cheat on her.”

Does she have a point?  Read the article and you decide.  Otherwise, in my opinion according to ‘Sugarbabe’, men are a bunch of dogs and slaves to testosterone after all.  WOOF!

  • If you have an iPhone, I would read this article about Apple’s Safari browser exploit.  Best advice in the article comes from Mike Kershaw who wrote the open-source WiFi sniffer Kismet:

If I had an iPhone I would be very worried about using it out in public,” he said. The attacks might sound far-fetched, “I wouldn’t want to trust my company’s security” to the devices as they stand, Kershaw said. “One way to mitigate (these threats) is to turn off Wi-Fi,” he said.

To turn off WiFi on a iPhone, got to the Settings button and then touch ‘Wi-Fi’, at the bottom of the ‘Wi-Fi Networks’ screen flip the ‘Wi-Fi’ slider to off.  In my opinion, you can flip the ‘Ask to Join Networks’ slider to off which would stop those annoying pop-up messages to join a new Wi-Fi network and mitigate accidentally connecting to a malicious access point.

  • OH SNAP! Get ready for higher ISP costs!

    oh-snap-get-ready-for-higher-isp-costs

Google and Verizon are chatting it up about speeding up how content to the Google owned ‘YouTube’ site and other applications owned by Google will be given a higher priority on the Verizon network.  As most are aware, the majority of the Google Droid phones run on the Verizon network.  This is definitely a move by the big players to side step the FCC and start moving forward to kill ‘Net Neutrality‘ where all traffic across the Internet is consider equal.  Comcast and other big ISPs have been battling hard to increase their profits by forcing users in to a ‘Tiered’ service market similar to cable / satellite television where they charge a higher premium to subscribers to ensure their traffic gets through.

So get ready to feel the hit in the wallets again.

  • What kind of idiot??

    what-kind-of-idiot

While I was in Chicago I was able to snap a picture of someone who lifted their old mid-80′s Oldsmobile car and put $5000 worth of rims and tires on a car worth $800.  Not only does it look stupid in my humble opinion, I got to observe it driving down the freeway swimming between the grooves.  I have started seeing more and more of these types of modifications to old cars which not only boggles the mind but makes me ask “What kind of a moronic idiot does this to a car??”

  • Day 3 of no smoking using the patch

    day-3-of-no-smoking-using-the-patch

As I have stated, I would be quitting smoking after my birthday.  Well I am now on my third day without cigarettes by using the nicotine patch.  Granted, I am still getting nicotine from the patch, but I’ll take the ability to make better habits while not fighting the urge to kill / destroy everyone / everything around me.  Only thing is that I’ve been getting very vivid and strange dreams, but nothing horrible or nightmarish thank goodness.

I also wish to thank everyone who came to my 40th birthday celebration, I’ll have pictures up soon.  Either I’ll make a Flickr account as I’m thinking about turning the gallery page off or I’ll push them up to the gallery.  Haven’t made up my mind yet.

So I found this picture surfing the web looking for pictures of Haley’s Comet a while back.  So after fighting with creating a De-motivational poster using Windows 7 Paint, my friend Steve sent me to a website that creates them for you.  I should have googled.  Anyways, here is the poster that I created:
