So my good friend, Mr. Xinu – AKA Steven Klassen, was down at Symantec for the week doing what he does best and told me about Symantec’s acquisition of Altiris which is a virtualization software package. Similar to VMWares server virtualization where you can create virtual servers, this solution allows you to install different software on your machine without taking the risk of hosing your operating system. No more worrying about DLL Hell or Windows Registry Rot as the software installation doesn’t make permanent changes.
