  • De-motivational Poster – Makes me laugh

    <div class=\"postavatar\">de-motivational-poster-makes-me-laugh</div>

So I found this picture surfing the web looking for pictures of Haley’s Comet a while back.  So after fighting with creating a De-motivational poster using Windows 7 Paint, my friend Steve sent me to a website that creates them for you.  I should have googled.  Anyways, here is the poster that I created:

  • Rob the Movie Critic – Robin Hood

    <div class=\"postavatar\">rob-the-movie-critic-robin-hood</div>

So Cyndi and I went to see Robin Hood last night at Cinetopia and enjoyed some dinner in their living room theatre. Cyndi and I had their “Award winning 1/2 pound” burger and french fries and while Cyndi and I both agree their burger wasn’t quite award winning in our book, the french fries were very tasty especially for the $16 price tag of each burger. Definitely not worth the price in my humble opinion.

But I digress, this is about Rob being a movie critic not a food critic. So my feelings on Robin Hood; it was not too shabby but not awe inspiring. The action scenes were well done and looked great on the big screen, the acting wasn’t horrible from either of the main stars. I was expecting something more along the lines of the typical story line of Robin Hood but instead they shared the story of what lead up to the Robin Hood saga. We both liked that as we’ve heard the story many times over: Robin Hood steals from the rich to pay back to the poor.

To pay to see it on the big screen or wait for Blu-Ray / DVD: I think it’s worth to see it on the big screen for the action rather than wait for Blu-Ray / DVD. I think you’ll lose some of the goodness that this movie had to offer on a big screen.

  • Obama open to rethinking ‘Miranda’ warning

    <div class=\"postavatar\">obama-open-to-rethinking-miranda-warning</div>

    NPR: Obama rethinking ‘Miranda’ rights.

I heard this story on NPR a few days ago and it concerns me at the continuing erosion of our rights. While the discussion is regarding expanding the existing “public safety” exception where the rule allows interrogators to question defendants without immediately reading their rights.

Interrogators used this rule with the current ‘NYC Time Square’ bomber Faisal Shahzad and questioned him where a short time later they did Mirandize him. Understandable considering they needed to find out if there were any other possible threats.

I’m concerned at where the end will be and I’m saddened that we’re looking at any of these types of changes under the Obama administration.

  • Rob the savings miser – Saved $200

    <div class=\"postavatar\">rob-the-savings-miser-saved-200</div>

Today I saved $200 without having to use a coupon or spend any money. How did I do it you ask? I shall tell you.

The Dodge truck’s air conditioning unit has been blowing warm air the last little bit and after everyone, well mainly Cyndi and Judy, cleaned the garage out I found my A/C tool and two bottles of R-134a refrigerant. After using one 18oz bottle on my truck and a little bit of the second bottle my truck is now blowing nice and cold air. It would have cost me about $100 to take it to a shop and have them recharge the A/C refrigerant. So where did the other $100 of savings come from?

After Cyndi and I returned from Shelby’s district race; Shelby ran a 5 min 24 second mile which was a personal record for her, I noticed that her A/C wasn’t blowing as cold as it should have. After hooking up the gauge to her unit, she was a little bit low as well so I used what was left in the second bottle and now it’s blowing colder than my truck!

$200 saved. I am the savings miser!

  • Cyndi, the coupon diva.

    <div class=\"postavatar\">cyndi-the-coupon-diva</div>

I went shopping today with my honey Cyndi today and first stop was Safeway. She kept telling me to “Watch and learn”. She opened her coupon box and started going through all the items she slated for us to buy. After putting them all in to the shopping cart we headed to the check out lane. $57.86 before coupons, $18.66 after coupons with a savings of 76%.

All I can say is WOW! Check out the details at her blog: http://couponfriend.blogspot.com
