Just call me Cat Woman…

<div class=\"postavatar\">just-call-me-cat-woman</div>

I was sitting here a couple hours ago and something told me that I needed to go to the Humane Society. I decided that there MUST be a reason but the only thing I could come up with was to look at lost pet records to see if Salem (a kitty that adopted US a few weeks ago) was being looked for. I just had this nagging feeling that I NEEDED to go! So…I jump in the car.. drive across town to find out that the Humane Society moved to a new location located on the OTHER side of town… did that stop me? No… I drove the 45 minutes to get there because i HAD to go…

So.. I get there… go into the pet adoption area to browse. I had been on craigslist earlier today and saw alot of lost pet ads on there, so I went to see if I recognized anyone. I played with a red nosed pitbull in the play area for 1/2 hour.. exercised him AND me real good throwing his ball then decided Id better do what I came to do and go look through lost pet records.

I went to the intake area which is also where they keep the lost pet archives and wasnt waiting at the counter for a minute when 2 nice ladies walked in….1 holding a large cardboard box and 1 holding a cat carrier. I peeked in the box and there were 4 tiny little grey faces staring at me.. about 2 weeks old.. cute as all heck! The ladies said the kittens were dropped on the steps of the church. The intake girl said that unless they could find a foster parent to take them until they were 2lbs or 8 weeks old.. they would be euthanized. I just couldnt bear to see that happen!!! 1 of the ladies was allergic, the other had dogs……sooooooooooooo…I called hubby and asked him if it was ok and… viola.. I am now the proud foster mommy for 4 baby kittens and their mommy until the babies are old enough to be adopted out in 6 weeks..

Yes… thats right… My new name is Cat Woman as I am now living with 8 cats!! (5 of which will be temporary..lol)

A Day at Epcot

<div class=\"postavatar\">a-day-at-epcot</div>

Well, yesterday was alot of fun. We got to Epcot at about 12:30. First thing in the gate we found Stitch! He’s so cute!! Got some pics with him… here ya go…

After going on a couple rides, we headed toward the German Pavilion for lunch. There was an authentic hoffbrauhaus with a German lunch buffet. There was music and food and beer in liters… oh my! The food was great… very authentic tasting but I was very good! I had 1 plate with a tiny scoop of everything to taste it all, then hit the dessert bar to “taste” that as well.

The lines were long, but the weather was awesome!! It wasnt too hot and there was a breeze most of the day. Somewhat overcast.. not too bad on humidity. We saved the BEST ride for last which was Mission Space. Quite basically its a ride where they simulate you being launched from earth on a space mission to mars. All I can say is… I woulda done it again and again and again, if we werent short of time to go watch fireworks. It was the coolest ride at Epcot!

We only did about 1/2 the park, but we walked the ENTIRE way to the other side of the lake to the german place and back. We woulda done the boat, but there were things we wanted to see. Kinda like this little curious dude…

After visiting about 1/2 of the pavillion around the lake, we headed back and did the future world part of things then around 8:30, We got a good spot to watch the fireworks show. All I can say is… Incredible! I got some great shots of that too… so here ya go…

We were both just sore and dead by the time we were done. My calves ached, my ankles ached.. but amazingly enough, my back did ok!! Usually that is the first thing to hurt. Anyway.. this morning we are both good. Little bit stiff in the back, but I think its cuz of the tiny queen sized bed. Its not the most comfy thing in the world.

Between the 2 of us we drank more than 1 gallon of water while we were there. Those water bottles were not only a lifesaver to carry healthwise.. but definitely mandatory carry along because the prices to buy drinks and food there are insane!!! The only time we ate was at the german pavillion around 2pm and then later we got some ice cream while we were waiting for the fireworks show to start.. I dont think Ive ever had to eat ice cream so fast. It was melting faster than I could eat it.. LOL

New Photo’s on my website

<div class=\"postavatar\">new-photos-on-my-website</div>

Well… after 5+ months of procrastinating, I finally got all of the July & August photos I took edited and posted on my website. This includes photos of our trip to Nevada in July and the Red Rock Canyon, Zion National Park and The Valley of Fire State park. I also posted some up from the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge and the Seaside Rod Run.

The new photo’s are not posted in our Schricker album here tho, because I have someone who wants to purchase the right to use several images for a Screensaver CD they are putting together and I wanted to keep the images protected. I’ll be posting the more candid ones on the site here in the very near future :)

  • Halloween party alot of fun!

    <div class=\"postavatar\">halloween-party-alot-of-fun</div>

We had our annual adult halloween costume party last night and it was SOOO much fun!! We had about 20 people here and all but 3 were dressed up in costume. Unfortunately my camera battery died so I wasnt able to get a full group shot, but my cousin had her camera so I uploaded the pictures she took to the gallery of some of us all dressed up. The pics are located in the new album for Holiday gatherings.

    Enjoy!!

    Nilla the wonder pudty…

    <div class=\"postavatar\">nilla-the-wonder-pudty</div>

Our female cat is a riot. Today while perched on a barstool in the kitchen, she spied a fly landing and tried a ”trapeeze act” on my dining room chandelier. I saw her jump out of the corner of my eye and then heard a clang and a thud as she hit the light and landed on her side on the kitchen table. (so much for ALL cats landing on thier feet.. this ones a clutz!) I looked up and saw my chandalier swinging like we had just experienced a large earthquake and there she was sitting on the table staring at it thinking…. “crap, I missed!!!”.

Where she thought she was gonna land is beyond me…LOL!

Adding albums and LOTS of pictures.

    <div class=\"postavatar\">adding-albums-and-lots-of-pictures</div>

Our oldest daughter, Shelby, is taking beginning photography and American Sign language this year. She opted NOT to continue with French (THANK GOD!) because she hated it and a swap out of Physics to Photography was necessary since she hasnt taken Geometry yet. She’ll be doing Geometry next semester then Physics next year as a Senior. I am very excited that she is taking these 2 classes related to things that I love. As crazy protective over my Nikon D80 as I am, I let her take it yesterday on a walk and was plesantly surprised by a few of the pictures she took. They are learning alot about photoshop so they are currently taking stills. I created her her own album in the forum gallery especially for photos she has taken for class if you would like to check it out.

Also, there will be a few more gallery albums for images I have shot. Would appreciate any feedback you have as I am going to be entering my first competitions this fall. :)
