You’re still missed Kathy….

Today is the 2nd anniversary of Kathy Benton’s death and sitting here typing this I can’t find words to describe how I feel.  I hope that Jerome and Kathy’s family are doing well today.  You are still missed.

  • <div class=\"postavatar\">southwest-airlines-im-surrounded-by-assholes</div>

From the movie “SpaceBalls” – I’m surrounded by assholes! How many assholes we got on this ship?!

So the flight from Las Vegas to PDX is finally called to line up and when I get up to the posts I ask this guy what his number is. He tells me 25, I replied great, I’m 21, but i think you should be behind this nice lady and her husband. he says to me that it doesn’t matter it’s just a grouping thing. So i said if it was just a grouping thing then we would have it say that on our ticket. I asked him if he’s going to move to his position and he says “No, go take it up with the guy at the desk if you don’t like it!” So i did just that. Explained to the SouthWest employee behind the desk that a man was refusing to move in to his proper place in line. The SouthWest employee came over and after seeing this guy says “Oh wait, you work here right?”

I was like WTFMAN! This is a SouthWest employee and won’t he doesn’t follow their own rules, then gets all shitty when asked to take his proper place in line? Un-flipping believable!

The agent who came over informed the other SouthWest employee that no, it’s not just a grouping thing and it does count. Only at this time did he move. After the agent returned to his desk, this jack-a-lope asks me if I was happy now and if I minded if he sat next ot me on the plane.

“Sure!” i replied. “It’s open seating and I might even buy you a drink!” Needless to say, he didn’t sit next to me.

For those of you reading this and thinking “Wow, it’s pretty chippy to get bent over 5 positions in line.” But this guys attitude just sucked and I’m tired of Assholes!

I just read this from KATU’s website and it amazes me that companies think they can pull stunts like described in this article. I hope these folks win big!

    <div class=\"postavatar\">wicked-cool-northern-lights-from-norway</div>

In a project that took 6 months, Ole Salomonsen of Tromso took 50,000 still photographs of the Northern Lights to create a time-lapse video. This is wicked cool to watch, check it out!

  • High winds in Virginia spread brush fires

    <div class=\"postavatar\">high-winds-in-virginia-spread-brush-fires</div>

I went to check where my next job site would be here in Virginia, after locating it I stopped in a Harris Teeter parking lot to answer a phone call. After about 10 or so minutes, I noticed lots of commotion and people looking behind me and to the left. When I looked, I see a huge cloud of smoke.  Here is a video that I took on my iPhone 4, forgive the bad voice quality as the winds were really blowing hard.

  • What would you give for a taste?

    <div class=\"postavatar\">what-would-you-give-for-a-taste</div>

For anyone out there that is like me and loves a good Scotch, this article should set them off drooling asking themselves what they wouldn’t give for a taste of this 100 year old Scotch. As MacKinlay has heritage from the Isle of Jura in Scotland, I would expect that this is a Islay scotch and therefore peaty which isn’t my first choice in Scotch. However with a 100 yr old bottle, I would put my disdain aside for a taste.

So I seen this picture of the guy who was indicted for the shooting in Arizona and WOW, does this picture give anyone else the willies when you look at it? The look in this guys eyes while he’s smiling just makes me shudder. Seriously, it’s like they say ‘Cooo-cooo, Cooo-cooo’!

  • Way to go Ron Wyden!

    <div class=\"postavatar\">way-to-go-ron-wyden</div>

You just gotta love Ron Wyden! A bill was introduced in to the Senate that would give our government the ability to censor websites by banning them through their DNS entry on the global servers. Mainly the bill named “Combating Online Infringements and Counterfeits Act” (COICA, S.3804) was designed to eliminate offshore pirate websites by blocking their domain name registration on the root DNS servers.

Ron Wyden put the kybosh on the bill in the senate by placing a hold on it after recognizing this bill as a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Here is the website I read the article: Silicon Florest – Al Gore may have invented the Information Superhighway, but Oregon Senator Ron Wyden just saved the Internet

  • Freedom of Tweet – First Amendment Right?

    <div class=\"postavatar\">freedom-of-tweet-first-amendment-right</div>

I stumbled upon this article by Brian Solis on Twitter where he blogged about ‘tweeting’ your thoughts and such in a very public forum. While reading his blog, one of the paragraphs he used an example of Context vs. Intent. A person named Paul Chambers ‘tweeted’ something that was apparently taken out of context and he found himself in legal hot water. (If you want to know what Paul said, go to Brian’s blog and read about it)

Even after reading it, and though it was probably something he shouldn’t have tweeted, I took it as I’m sure Paul meant it; a joke! Lesson to be learned here: Think about your post or tweet before you send it.

I do wish to quote a part of this blog that I found comical. Brian wrote, “While common sense is uncommon….”

Check out his article: The First Amendment of Social Media: Freedom of Tweet
